Keeyask Agreement in Principle In 1998, Tataskweyak Cree Nation (TCN) began formal discussions with Manitoba Hydro to explore the possibilities of a joint business relationship for a potential hydroelectric development at Keeyask Rapids. TCN Chief and Council and the Keeyask Planning Committee guided the work at every stage of this process. The Keeyask Agreement in Principle with Manitoba Hydro was approved September 2000. A formal signing ceremony between Manitoba Hydro and Tataskweyak Cree Nation was held at Split Lake on October 17, 2000 to recognize the historic nature of this Agreement.	PDF for download

TCN Split Lake Submission to the Manitoba Climate Change Task Force by Chief Duke Beardy – View PDF here This letter was submitted to Lloyd Axworthy, Chair, Manitoba Climate Change Task Force, by Duke Beardy, formerly Chief of Tataskweyak Cree Nation, on June 22, 2001. The letter expresses Tataskweyak Cree Nation’s desire to contribute actively in the development of climate change policies in Manitoba. It states our support of the responsible development of water resources in Manitoba and our feelings that the development should be achieved in harmony and balance with our environment, and with the input of First Nations.

Climate Change Speech by Victor Spence – View PDF here This speech was presented to the Axworthy Clean Environment Commission by Victor Spence on behalf of the Tataskweyak Cree Nation on June 13, 2001. The speech expresses Tataskweyak Cree Nation’s interest in responding to the challenge of climate change by addressing mitigation of, and adaptation to, expected effects both in the Canadian situation and globally. We feel that we can contribute to policy development regarding the responsible use of the environment because of our traditional knowledge and our experience with hydroelectric development in our Resource Area.
